We are spoiled for choice these days when it comes to what kind of flooring to choose, so we thought we would take a look at one of those flooring types in this blog and that’s laminate flooring. Choosing flooring for your home is a big decision, after all, it covers such a large area of the home. You also have to take into consideration the needs of the household and how hardwearing it needs to be.
One reason laminate flooring can be a great option is that it’s generally cheaper and also easy to install, which means that for a reasonably low price, you can have a whole new flooring look.
Laminate flooring is usually made up of fiberboard with a melamine resin. These generally come in panels or pieces that fit neatly together, much like the way hardwood flooring does.
There are a wide range of options to choose from when it comes to both style and color. The majority of options come under a hardwood look category, but other styles like granite or marble effect are also available.
Some of the downsides to choosing laminate flooring is that it can occasionally move or shift. Another potential issue is that this kind of flooring has a melamine resin which contains the toxic chemical formaldehyde. It is possible, though, to find products that contain less toxins.
Before installing laminate flooring, make sure the subfloor is in decent shape and that it does not contain a lot of moisture. You might find this will cause the laminate to become warped or buckle.
From this very brief review, we can see that laminate can be a great flooring choice, but make sure it’s right for the needs of you and your household.
